Criminal Justice and Correction Services
This pathway prepares students for a range of careers in law enforcement, crime scene analysis, forensic science, public safety, and criminal justice. Upon completion of this program of study, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skill preparation for postsecondary or career opportunities in many law- and justice-related fields.
National Career Cluster Alignment
The Criminal Justice and Correction Services Pathway is a part of the Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security career cluster. The Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security Cluster includes legal, public safety, protective services, and security fields. This cluster also includes related professional and technical support services.
Pathway Courses
Level 1 Course: Criminal Justice I
- Criminal Justice I is the first course in Criminal Justice and Correction Services program of study. It serves as a comprehensive survey of how the law enforcement, legal, and correctional systems interact with each other in the United States. Upon completion of this course, proficient students will understand the context of local, state, and federal laws, the concepts of crime control and the judicial process, and the importance of communications and professionalism in law enforcement.
- Aligned Industry Credential: OSHA 10 General Industry. The OSHA 10-Hour General Industry certification allows students to increase their value as entry-level workers by demonstrating mastery of the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in the general industry workplace. The program also provides information regarding workers' rights and employer responsibilities. OSHA training and certification ensures that workers are more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights.
Level 2 Course: Criminal Justice II
- Criminal Justice II is the second course in the Criminal Justice and Correction Services program of study. Upon completion of this course, proficient students will understand the impact of the constitution on law enforcement, law enforcement and police procedures, alcohol and beverage laws, sentencing, and the importance of communications and professionalism in law enforcement.
- Aligned Industry Credential: Adult, Infant, and Child CPR/AED/First Aid. Earning the Adult, Child and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED certification and training equips students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and babies.
Level 3 Course: Criminal Justice III: Forensic Criminal Investigations
- Forensic Criminal Investigations is the third course designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to be successful in the sciences of criminal investigations. Students will learn terminology and investigation skills related to the crime scene, aspects of criminal behavior, and applications of the scientific inquiry to solve crimes. By utilizing the scientific inquiry method, students will obtain and analyze evidence through simulated crime scenes and evaluation of case studies. Upon completion of this course, proficient students will be able to identify careers forensic science and criminology, summarize the laws that govern the application of forensic science, and draw key connections between the history of the forensic science system and the modern legal system.

- Dual Credit- Credit by assessment. Students are enrolled in a high school course that is identified as a match with a post-secondary course. Students complete a college assessment at the end of the course to prove mastery of content. If the student passes the test, the student can use the college credit at that institution or request a transcript to use at a different institution.

This pathway prepares students for careers in medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, pharmacology, nutrition, and many more established and emerging fields in the healthcare sector. Course content provides foundational knowledge and skills in each of these areas.
National Career Cluster Alignment
The Therapeutic Services Pathway is a part of the Health Science career cluster. The Health Science Career Cluster involves planning, managing, and providing therapeutic, diagnostic, and health support services. This cluster also includes medical and biotech research.
Pathway Courses
Level 1 Course: Health Science Education
- Health Science Education is an introductory course designed to prepare students to pursue careers in the fields of public health, therapeutics, health services administration, diagnostics, and support services. Upon completion of this course, a proficient student will be able to identify careers in these fields, compare and contrast the features of healthcare systems, explain the legal and ethical ramifications of the healthcare setting, and begin to perform foundational healthcare skills. This course will serve as a strong foundation for all of the Health Science programs of study as well as the Health Services Administration program of study.

Level 2 Course: Anatomy and Physiology
- Anatomy and Physiology is designed to develop an understanding of the structures and functions of the human body, while relating those to knowledge and skills associated with pathophysiology. Upon completion of this course, proficient students will be able to (1) apply the gross anatomy from earlier courses to a deeper understanding of all body systems, (2) identify the organs and structures of the support and movement systems, (3) relate the structure and function of the communication, control, and integration system, and (4) demonstrate a professional, working understanding of the transportation, respiration, excretory, and reproduction systems

Level 3 Course: Medical Assisting
- Medical Assisting is a level 2 or level 3 course designed to prepare students to pursue careers in medical assisting. Upon completion of this course, a proficient student will be able to implement communication and interpersonal skills, provide care safely, prevent emergency situations, prevent infection through infection control, and perform the skills required of a medical assistant. At the conclusion of this course and an appropriate clinical internship, students may sit for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam.
- Aligned Industry Credential: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification measures knowledge and skills in ambulatory settings (clinics and medical offices) under the supervision of physicians. CMAs are capable of doing both clinical and administrative procedures and are tested in such procedures.

This pathway is designed for students interested in learning more about becoming a veterinarian, vet tech, vet assistant, or pursuing a variety of scientific, health, or agriculture professions.
National Career Cluster Alignment
The Veterinary and Animal Science Pathway is a part of the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources career cluster. The Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Career Cluster focuses on producing, processing, marketing, distributing, financing, and developing agricultural resources. This cluster includes food, fiber, wood products, natural resources, plants, and animals.

Level 1 Course: Small Animal Science
- Small Animal Science is an intermediate course in animal science and care for students interested in learning more about becoming a veterinarian, vet tech, vet assistant, or pursuing a variety of scientific, health, or agriculture professions. This course covers anatomy and physiological systems of different groups of small animals, as well as careers, leadership, and history of the industry. Upon completion of this course, proficient students will be prepared for more advanced coursework in veterinary and animal science.

Level 2 Course: Large Animal Science
- Large Animal Science is an applied course in veterinary and animal science for students interested in learning more about becoming a veterinarian, vet tech, vet assistant, or pursuing a variety of scientific, health, or agriculture professions. This course covers anatomy and physiological systems of different groups of large animals, as well as careers, leadership, and history of the industry. Upon completion of this course, proficient students will be prepared for success in the level-four Veterinary Science course and further postsecondary training.

Level 3 Course: Veterinary Science
- Veterinary Science is an advanced course in animal science and care for students interested in learning more about becoming a veterinarian, vet tech, vet assistant, or pursuing a variety of scientific, health, or agriculture professions. This course covers principles of health and disease, basic animal care and nursing, clinical and laboratory procedures, and additional industry-related career and leadership knowledge and skills. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to pursue advanced study of veterinary science at a postsecondary institution.
- Aligned Industry Credential: Elanco Veterinary Medical Applications Certification. The Veterinary Medical Applications Certification validates the individual’s knowledge and understanding of animal science, including the livestock industry's history and practices, terminology, and livestock management practices. Also, the certification exam assesses major topics in the animal science industry, including genetics, reproduction, nutrition, and health management.
